Last minute sponsor

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

On Friday Mike Cannon-Brookes from Atlassian emailed us to let us know that Atlassian would be sponsoring BarCampSydney5. This was wonderful news because we now have enough sponsorship to put on a Bar Tab! So make sure you stick around for drinks after BarCamp too.

Some further details about BCS5

Date and Time

Date: Saturday 27th June 2009

Time: 9am Start, 5pm Finish then off to the local pub just around the corner for drinks

Location

Innovations Centre, Australian Technology Park, Redfern

Also see it on Google Maps Street View

Getting There

Here’s an overview of getting to ATP http://www.atp.com.au/how-to-find-atp

But the bottom line is - catch a train or a bus! The parking is $20 and they only accept notes or coins.

Here are the details of trains from central station and busses (the 310 bus looks like the best option).

Coffee, Drinks and Food

There is a Cafe on site, right inside the venue. We have a coffee sponsor so you will be able to get a nice cup of coffee at least.

Food will be available to purchase at any time during the day.

Drinks afterwards will be at the local pub around the corner (details to be anounced on the day) and we will have some sponsorship money put aside for the Bar Tab (The drinks after is as just as much a part of BarCamp as the whole day).

What to Bring

  • Yourself
  • Your Ideas
  • Your presentation: On a USB stick or laptop
  • Your laptop (if you want)
  • A device to twitter with (join in to the back channel)
  • A 3g Dongle just in case (we will have wireless and the Meraki network set up, but just in case, if you have one, it would be good to bring it).
  • A power adapter and / or extension cord (sometimes useful for charging your devices during the day)

Everything on the Map

New Sponsor

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

We have another sponsor on board

Thanks to Phillip Evans. Evanscorp were a previous sponsor fo StartupCamp2, so thanks for the great support for the local tech community.

Plus we have a heap of new individual sponsors so please check out the sponsors page for more details.

Sponsorship Update

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Things are rolling along quite nicely in the BarCampSydney5 sponsorship department.

We have three new major sponsors yesterday

Melon Media - the makers of Spellr.us. Plus they have kindly given us a free Spellr.us account for our website. Thanks Kevin and the team!

The team at Pollenizer have offered to be our Coffee Sponsor, which is great because we can’t run a BarCamp without Coffee! Big thanks to @liubinskas.

Also thanks to the ongoing support of Russ from Max Design for keeping the website up and running and helping out wherever needed.

The individual sponsorships are starting to role in now also.  See the Sponsors page for details.

We are still looking for more sponsors. The more sponsorship we can raise, the better the day will be.

We also need the loan of a Projector and Screen for the day if you have one of those available.

More Sponsors

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Thanks so much to Geekdom for a big chunk of sponsorship love.

Also thanks to the sponsorships from individuals coming through - even people who can’t come to BarCamp are sponsoring us. To sponsor BarCampSydney5 for a small amount via your credit card please go to www.barcamp.org/BarCampSydney5 or contact sponsors@barcampsydney.org if you want to join Microsoft and Geekdom as major sponsors.

BarCampSydney5 Registration Now Open

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

The Registration page for BarCampSydney5 is now online. Please register at www.barcamp.org/barcampsydney5

The registration page also has links to sponsor BarCampSydney with a quick credit card payment of a small amount. It will make a great difference to the running of BarCampSydney if we have lots people sponsoring small amounts. The more sponsorship we raise, the better the event will be. The first 50 people that sponsor and turn op on the day will be guaranteed a T-Shirt. Plus all sponsors will have their name in lights (well on our website at least).

A big thanks to Microsoft AU who have sponsored BarCampSydney5 already. I think Microsoft have sponsored every BarCamp so far, so our huge thanks to them and @nickhodge for the continued support.

As far as BarCamp content goes, we now have both the FutureCamp and the Gov2.0 streams happening in the ThinkTank. The Gov2.0 stream builds on the momentum of the Government 2.0 BarCamp-style PublicSphere http://www.katelundy.com.au/2009/05/29/public-sphere-2-open-government-policy-and-practice/ taking place in Canberra on the 22nd and a planned screening of the Us Now documentary around this time.

This is on top of the regular BarCamp content that you can decide upon now, and add details to the registration page about, or just make something up on the day. It’s going to be a great day! See you there!

Oh, and don’t forget to tweet about BarCamp and use the #bcs5 hashtag and http://bit.ly/bcs5 hyperlink for the registration page.
