Sat night event

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

BarCamps are meant to be…camps. You’re meant to sleep over for the weekend. But that was just too difficult to arrange for this first BarCamp in Australia (maybe next year though!). We’re really keen to still utilise this rare opportunity to spend time with people who have come together for this exciting and interesting event. You may meet your future busines partner, a genius inventor or an old friend. So, we planning on a get together on Saturday night, somewhere in the city. Any ideas?

We’ve got Wireless!

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

One of the things we were worried about was wireless. But now UnWired have come to the rescue. They’re supplying BarCampSydney with wireless for the event. Wohoo Unwired! So, as a recap. We’ve got the venue to supply a computer with net access in each room. And we’ve got wireless now for the area. No reason not to blog and podcast your way through the event! hehe

Media Tagging

Upload all photos to Flickr, all presentations to Slideshare, all videos to Youtube; use the tag BarCampSydney for everything!

It began with the Word

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

We’ve started sending out a call to participate to all our friends, family and pets:

The first BarCamp is being held in Australia this year! BarCamps, those crazy unconferences, will be held in states across Australia at the same time on the 3rd and 4th of March. BarCampSydney is calling you!

NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS

When you come, be prepared to share with BarCampers.

When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.

It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to participate.

Venue is locked in!

Friday, December 15th, 2006

Yep, we’ve got a venue for the event. A venue that is scalable, in that we can add more rooms if the interest requires it. It is central to Sydney and easy to access via public transport. And, it offers an internet-enabled computer and data-projector in each room. The venue is the University of Technology, Sydney. Wohoo!

Welcome to BarCampSydney!

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

Hello! This is our BarCampSydney blog to keep you informed of updates on the event. We’re very excited about the BarCamp phenomenon coming to Australia. There is great interest already from people wanting to present and companies wanting to sponsor. But none of it will happen without you, so signup, join in, turn up.
